- Saturday August 13, 2022: Atlantic City Health Fair-12pm-3pm in Atlantic City at the parking lot next to the AC Civil Courts at N. South Carolina Ave. between Bacharach Blvd and Arctic Ave. Atlantic City.

SJFMC and Nurture NJ Family Festival

On April 13th, SJFMC supported the First Lady Tammy Murphy’s Nurture NJ initiative by hosting a Family Festival at our Burlington City health center. With the help of more than 30 community organizations, we provided much needed resources, information and health services for pregnant mothers, new mothers, and all families in attendance. Our vaccination team was also present to protect the most vulnerable populations.
“The fact that black and brown women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than white women, coupled with another staggering statistic that black and brown infants die at double the rate of their counterparts, is unacceptable and alarming,” said Linda Y. Flake, MBA, President/CEO of Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers, Inc. “As a community health center, we provide all women with access to health care, regardless of their ability to pay. We have a robust Women’s Health Care Program and deliver close to 1000 babies across southern New Jersey. Our mission is to break down the disparities in health care by addressing chronic conditions and social determinants such as education, racism, transportation, and implicit bias to provide our pregnant patients, mothers, and babies with the best chance of living fulfilling lives. We still have much work to do, but the future holds much promise, as demonstrated by First Lady Murphy’s commitment to prioritize and address the maternal and infant health crisis through Nurture NJ. This program has placed a spotlight on this issue, has connected existing community partners, and directed new resources toward eliminating this disparity. We are so honored to participate in this important initiative and will continue our work with Nurture NJ! Together, with the partners that have been assembled across the state, we will make a difference.”

“With New Jersey turning a positive corner in our recovery from the pandemic, we are so excited to see the return of First Lady Tammy Murphy’s Family Festivals. While the upcoming festivals will be a bit smaller in scale as people get used to gathering again, they are just as important in connecting our families with important resources such as motor vehicle services that they can use to improve their everyday lives,” said Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver, who serves as Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. “We encourage people to come to these mini family festivals and take advantage of the services and resources provided. More than 5,500 families were positively impacted by the festivals pre-COVID and we want to reach even more families, especially since many may still be feeling the effects of the pandemic.”

BOOST NJ2 WEEK!
Make a plan today to get your booster shot as part of Boost NJ2 Week!
Boost NJ2 Week is running from Wednesday, February 23rd through Tuesday, March 1st.
Join SJFMC this Saturday 2/26 from 10 am – 5pm at the Tanger Outlets – The Walk in Atlantic City. The vaccine event will be help at the courtyard at the intersection of Arctic and Michigan Avenues. Primary Series and booster vaccines of Pfizer, Moderna and J&J will be available for people 5 years and older. Anyone who is vaccinated at this event will receive a $10 off coupon book to Tanger Outlets.
All SJFMC health centers also have walk-in availability to help make booster doses as available and accessible as possible. You can also schedule your shot here.

The Moderna and Janssen COVID-19 vaccines are authorized for those 18 and older. You must live, work, or study in New Jersey to be eligible. The vaccine is free to all eligible Americans.
BOOST NJ DAY!
Have you received your COVID-19 vaccine booster shot? Join folks across the state as we celebrate the one-year anniversary of the first vaccination by getting your first vaccine dose or your booster shot. Boost NJ Day will be held on December 15, 2021. State Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli said that as of 12/9/21, 34% of the 4.5 million New Jersey residents eligible for a booster have received one. “We are averaging about 35,000 booster doses each day, but we need to do better,” she said

Get Vaccinated This Rural Health Week
SJFMC celebrates Rural Health Week by protecting our communities from COVID-19. Join us on November 18, 2021 from 10-2 at our Hammonton Health Center as we vaccinate and administer booster shots, contributing to community immunity. We are offering Janssen, Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines as well as COVID-19 testing, health assessments, education and free gifts. Please join us and protect yourself and your family. Let’s Vote 2020
To make sure you get your ballot before the November 3rd General Election:
Visit https://nj.gov/state/elections/
Make sure you are an active voter and that your address is correct by clicking Am I Registered? If you are not registered or need to make changes, click Register to Vote and submit the online form by October 13!
All active voters will get a ballot in the mail to the address on record. You do not need to request a ballot.
Once you receive your ballot:
- Carefully read and follow the instructions
- Vote right away
- Sign and date where indicated
You have 3 ways to submit your ballot:
- Mail ballot at least 7 days prior to Election Day
- Leave in a secure drop box by 8 pm on 11/3 (Election Day)
- Complete and turn in to your polling place on Election Day
You can also vote in person on Election Day!

SJFMC Provides Healthy Food For Families
SJFMC provides help for families in need during the pandemic and beyond with free food giveaways at our Pleasantville and Atlantic City Health Centers. We distributed more than 1,200 boxes of produce, back to school, and high demand items during our National Health Center Week events on August 15 and again on August 29. “Our community has been adversely affected by COVID-19,” said Linda Flake, president, and CEO of Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers. “People are out of work, struggling to get food on the table. The pandemic has forced many to choose between paying the bills and buying food. This year, we’re trying to meet the need for food. The need is tremendous.” The event was held in partnership with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey’s COVID-19 Food Assistance Program.
