September is Minority & Multicultural Health Month
African-Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and other ethnic groups are affected disproportionately when it comes to health. These groups continue to rate high in risk for diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and infant mortality.
It is important to raise awareness among these populations in order to prevent the onset of a disease. This month is the time to encourage health screenings to detect disease and to promote disease management.
