Appointments
and Walk-In Patient Visits
Patients are encouraged to make appointments for medical and
dental services. Having an appointment enables us to have
your medical chart available at the time of your visit, allows
the clinician to review clinical laboratory information prior
to your visit, and gives the staff an opportunity to properly
schedule your visit.
Walk-in patients will be seen, but they may experience longer
waits since patients with appointments will be seen first
unless a walk-in patient is experiencing a medical emergency.
For an elective appointment, it is recommended that you call
at least two weeks in advance so that your appointment can
be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you and your
provider. Arriving at least one-half hour prior to your scheduled
appointment time is encouraged so that your medical and financial
information may be updated. If you have a medical emergency,
you are encouraged to call the center in advance to alert
the staff of your medical needs.
Every effort will be made to see patients with appointments
within 15 to 30 minutes of the appointment time. However,
medical and dental emergencies, difficult medical cases, and
complicated medical procedures can
cause delays.
Appointment Cancellations
It is important that you call to cancel an appointment if
you are unable to keep it. In order to schedule appointments
properly, we encourage patients to notify us at least 24 hours
in advance if they find that they cannot keep a scheduled
appointment. Any advance notice of a cancellation will be
helpful.
Emergencies After Normal Operating Hours
Medical providers at SJFMC are responsible for your health
and dental care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We realize
that an illness or medical emergency may occur after normal
operating hours. If you have a medical emergency, it is your
responsibility to contact us at 1-800-545-7336, or, based
on the emergency, to seek care at the Emergency Room at the
nearest hospital. If you contact our medical or dental staff
at the above number, we will be able to help you make appropriate
choices regarding yourillness or medical emergency. We may
be able to assist you over the telephone, eliminating a hospital
visit.
