South Jersey Family Medical Center Open New Site in the Burlington County Buttonwood Facility

A new family health care center is now open and taking appointments in a remodeled wing of Buttonwood Hospital in Pemberton Township to improve health care for Burlington County residents.

In collaboration with Burlington County, Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers, Inc. (SJFMC) will provide comprehensive, accessible primary care services to children, women and family members of all ages.

New Lisbon HallwaySJFMC is leasing a wing of Buttonwood Hospital from the County and recently completed extensive renovation to the 3,800 square foot wing into warm and attractive patient waiting rooms and clinical areas. The center has seven exam rooms and is staffed by qualified physicians and pediatricians who can speak Spanish.

Freeholder Dawn Marie Addiego, who toured the center before its opening, said, “This is a wonderful, attractive facility available for all county residents. The new center has clinicians and support staff to meet the health needs in the Pemberton-Browns Mills area and beyond,” she said.

Linda Flake, SJFMC President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “We welcome the opportunity to provide accessible, quality health care for Burlington County residents with the support of the Freeholders.”

The center is located in Pemberton because this area has been designated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a medically underserved area. This designation serves as the basis for federal and state funding.

With approval from the Burlington County Board of Chose Freeholders, South Jersey Family Medical Center applied for and received funding from the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to renovate and equip the Buttonwood facility.

The designated medically underserved areas include New Hanover, North Hanover and Wrightstown, but clients residing anywhere in the county may receive services at the new health center. The center provides services based on a sliding fee scale and also accepts clients with Medicare, Medicaid or other types of public or private insurance. Residents with no health insurance coverage are encouraged to seek needed health care and may be eligible for coverage made available by the State of New Jersey. Other services funded by the State of New Jersey are also available family members, including childhood immunizations and women’s health services,

Buttonwood Hospital is located at 600 Pemberton-Browns Mills Road. The center’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. The phone number is 609-894-1100.
